Privacy policy
Your audio stays on your Mac.
Last updated October 1, 2026
MixBar is designed to work without collecting personal information. Audio is processed locally, in memory, for the purpose of applying the volume and mute settings you choose.
Audio
MixBar accesses outgoing application audio after you grant macOS System Audio Recording permission. Microphone controls read and change the selected macOS input device and its hardware gain; MixBar does not capture, save, transmit, or analyze microphone audio.
Saved settings
Application names, volume levels, mute states, selected output, and supported browser-tab preferences are stored locally on your Mac. Browser extensions also keep the settings necessary to restore captured-tab volume in that browser profile.
Browser access
Chrome and Opera tab control applies only to tabs that you explicitly choose through the MixBar extension. Safari tab control uses the bundled Safari extension and sends the current tab title, address, and media playback state only to the MixBar app on your Mac. Audio Autopilot scenes, triggers, and recovery snapshots are stored locally in macOS preferences. MixBar does not read browser history, bookmarks, passwords, or form data, and browser metadata is not uploaded.
Website and purchases
This website does not include advertising or first-party analytics. Checkout is hosted by Stripe. Stripe may process payment, billing, device, fraud-prevention, and tax information under its own privacy policy. Complete card details never enter the MixBar app, website, or release service.
After payment, the release service verifies the Stripe Checkout Session and streams the installer from private object storage. It receives the Checkout Session identifier needed for verification, but it does not receive complete card details or store audio data.
